Thanks for tuning in for this weeks update! I’ll start it off by talking about the very successful sponsors event we held last week! There was a great turnout with representatives present from most of our main sponsors. The previous years’ car ran well, driven by one of our talented drivers, and everyone seemed to enjoy the showcase!
There will be another opportunity for the public to see this car in just over a month. We will be at the Campus in the City even…t in St Nicholas’ Arcade on the 9th of April, where members of our team will talk to you about the process and this years’ car. We will be showcasing our car at the same event on the 21st of May. More details to follow, stay tuned..!
Most of the tasks completed this week have been the nitty gritty ones! As a team, we reviewed our budget to make sure each of hte sub-teams are sticking to their budgets, and that we have enough cash flow to move forward. We also started to plan the event, in terms of the specifics we will require in the pits as well as at our campsite. We feel it is important to have a well planned pit, or order for ease of work and to give an impression of professionalism.
All the teams have also been confirming their specific tag mounting points to the chassis as well as the bearings they will require. A final bearing order has been sent through, and structural analysis is being completed on all of the tag requests to see what stress will be subjected to it, and to make sure the deflections are minimised.
The team also began to think about some of the static events, where we have to produce a design report, a costing report, and prepare a business presentation. These events contribute a significnat amount to the overall scores, so it is importnat to get these well prepared early.
That is it for this week, thanks for reading! This will be the last update for a couple of weeks, as the team takes a break to work on our industrial placements.
