February 2010: SuperGen Marine PostDoctoral Training Seminar Series on Automated Control.

Marine energy is a challenging area requiring further detailed research and development work across a diverse range of topics and activities. Building Capacity the EPSRC Supergen Marine is re-vitalising the supply of trained scientists and engineers for the academic, industrial and infrastructure sectors of marine energy.

Contributors to the week-long workshop include, in addition to Supergen researchers, Professor Antonio Falcao from the University of Lisbon, Portugal, and Dr Aurelien Babarit from Ecole Superieure de Nantes, France, together with Dr David Thomas of Orcina Ltd, of Ulverston. As well as the academic programme for the week, there will be a full social programme.

December 2008: Launch of Northwest Tidal Energy Group

The Northwest Tidal Energy Group, which brings together key stakeholders from industry, public sector and academia, is facilitated and chaired by the Northwest Regional Development Agency. The group aims to raise the profile of the Northwest’s tidal energy offering, as well as increasing the dissemination of best practice and encouraging open debate on the topic
