Group Introduction
Group Photo 2005
Research within the Micro & Nano Systems group is focused around industrially-linked projects that address design challenges associated with next generation integration technologies and the optimisation of quality, reliability and manufacturing economics in systems based on micro- and nano-technology. Our work is applied to state-of-the-art industrial processes and demonstrators and involves collaboration across both the European industrial and academic sectors. The group’s standing has led to the leadership of a European Network of Excellence and membership of the executive team within the EPSRC Innovative Electronics Manufacturing Research Centre. Strategic partnership agreements have been signed in test engineering with ISLI, and in micro- and nano-systems with QinetiQ, the latter leading to the team’s integration into the UK Consortium for MEMS Applications for Defence (MEAD). In addition, the group partner a number of international collaborators in major projects including the FP7 project “Extended Large (3-D) Integration TEchnology” ELITE.
