Postgraduate Engineering Courses at Lancaster University
The Department of Engineering offers taught courses at Masters level, PhD training and Short Courses for continuing professional development.
We are a broad-based engineering centre, which houses all disciplines under one roof, and we believe our friendly and informal atmosphere helps our postgraduate students achieve success during their studies and beyond. Our postgraduate students are taught by and work alongside world-class academics in a wide range of Engineering disciplines, and our strong industrial connections have allowed us to develop courses to meet the needs of industry. This combined with our excellence in teaching and research means that the Department is one of the top in the country for graduate employment success.
We offer a range of taught Masters courses, beginning in October of each year. These are available as a 12-month full time course, or a 24-month part-time course. We also offer part-time Industry-based courses specifically aimed at mature students holding responsible positions in the nuclear decommissioning, nuclear safety and aerospace industries.
We also offer postgraduate Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Short Courses for professional engineers wishing to maintain their knowledge and skills.
The department specialises in multi-disciplinary research activities, in the areas of Nuclear Engineering, Control and Instrumentation, Mobile Robots, Advanced Structures, Micro and Nano Technology, Energy, and High Power Microwave Engineering. We welcome applications from exceptional graduates to study for Engineering Research Courses at Lancaster in the fields mentioned above.
